Addressing the root causes of food poverty in Manchester.
Humans MCR
HumansMCR addresses the root causes of food poverty, fosters inclusivity, and empowers marginalised groups.
Their work has had a profound impact on the Greater Manchester community, touching the lives of countless individuals. They have implemented innovative strategies to combat hunger and ensure access to nutritious meals for those in need. Their food poverty initiatives include a delivery-based community food bank and community grocers, and collaborations with local organisations to maximise their impact. By tackling food poverty, HumansMCR is not only providing immediate relief but also working towards long-term solutions to alleviate hunger in Greater Manchester.
Another crucial aspect of HumansMCR's work is empowering vulnerable individuals through education and skills training. They provide cookery workshops to equip individuals with the necessary tools to reduce food insecurity and build sustainable futures. By fostering skills development, HumansMCR helps individuals overcome barriers ultimately contributing to more inclusive and thriving communities.
Furthermore, HumansMCR actively advocates for equality and social justice, challenging systemic barriers that perpetuate inequality. They engage in policy discussions, raise awareness about social issues, and collaborate with local authorities and organisations to drive meaningful change. Through their advocacy efforts, HumansMCR seeks to create a fairer and more equitable society for all.The impact of HumansMCR's work has uplifted individuals from poverty, provided essential resources to those in need, empowered vulnerable populations, and fostered a sense of community and belonging. By addressing key social issues, HumansMCR has helped transform lives and create a more inclusive and compassionate society in Greater Manchester.
Empowering Girls To Do reach their potential
The Girls Network
The Girls’ Network believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to discover their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.
We work to inspire and empower 14-19 year old girls from communities of least
advantage by connecting them with a mentor and a wider network of role models who are women. We deliver activities, events and opportunities which help them to gain self-confidence, to build life skills and nurture their ambitions. “I definitely wouldn't be where I am without my mentor. She opened my eyes to all the possibilities for my future and put me in touch with some fantastic people who provided me with insight and practical advice” Yentel, aged 20 (recent mentee).
Our programme makes a real difference. In our most recent survey 75% of girls said that it helped them to focus more in school or college, 97% said their mentor had a positive influence on them and 93% felt that their mentor helped them to feel more positive about the future.
Thanks to the generous support of our partners at Raju we will be able to reach more girls and young women, helping them to believe in their unlimited futures.

Overline Dignity and empowerment for women fleeing conflict
Cribs International
Cribs' mission is to house women who are heavily pregnant or have a new-born baby and have fled conflict and exploitation. By providing shelter, safety and support, they get women and their families off the streets of Athens and empower them to begin to recover from trauma, get back on their feet, and rebuild their lives.
The women supported are often alone, and have fled from various regions around the world, including the DRC, Cameroon, Afghanistan, Syria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Ivory Coast.
Many are survivors of various forms of exploitation. Having fled violence in their home countries, they have endured long and traumatic journeys and having reached Europe they find themselves homeless on the streets of Athens. With little or no support from the Greek authorities they are in desperate situations and are at risk of further exploitation.
We hear from women who are struggling to access food and shelter while heavily pregnant, women who have given birth and with nowhere to go risk their baby being taken from them. Regular donations enable us to continue to support these families and expand our services in Athens.
